Specialist Neurological Physiotherapy can help address a range of symptoms that may present as a result of enduring a Stroke (Ischaemic- ‘clot’ or Haemorrhagic- ‘bleed’).
Each person affected by a Stroke will present differently. A Neurological Physiotherapist will devise a bespoke rehabilitation programme to facilitate your recovery.
It is very likely that even years following a stroke you will see some improvement in function with Neuro Physiotherapy, this is because often you develop dysfunctional movement patterns as a result of muscle weakness or spasticity (stiffness) which can be unlearnt with the specialist movement analysis skills and ‘hands on’ movement facilitation skills of a Neuro Physiotherapist.
You may develop muscle spasticity which can interfere with movement and cause severe muscle tightness in some cases. A Neuro Physiotherapist is trained to offer advice about how to best manage these symptoms including splinting, medication management, Botulinum Toxin and stretching/positioning programmes.
There are other therapy adjuncts such as Saeboflex, Functional Electrical Stimulation (FES) and hydrotherapy that may be beneficial within your rehabilitation plan.
A Neuro Physiotherapist will also be able to offer advice in relation to walking aids, home equipment, wheelchairs and orthoses that may assist your mobility.

I'm not sure how to put into words what Tees Neuro Physiotherapy have done for our family. My dad started the clinic 9 months ago, after having a life changing brain haemorrhage, it felt like everything had been taken away from us with the future unknown. Starting with the clinic gave us hope for a brighter future. After an amazing 9 months with the most dedicated health professionals I have ever met, Vicky, Rosie and Claire, now have my dad able to use majority function in his hand, he can walk, he now has his driving licence back, but most of all he has his life back and this is thanks to this amazing team.
"It is more than a job to these amazing people, they truly care passionately about their patients. On my dad's darkest days, they were there with support and encouragement that together, they could achieve the goals that were set out. My dad is still attending the clinic and the team have now formed part of our network and we will forever be grateful.
The facilities and the team are second to none and wouldn't look further if you have a family member or friend who requires neurological physiotherapy."
“Wow where do I start. I met Vicki after being in hospital for a few months. I was still in a powered wheelchair with so much determination to walk again but didn’t know where to start.
Vicki from Tees Neurophysiotherapy has definitely been a big part of my rehabilitation. I’m now walking and even passed my driving test so I have some independence back.
Vicki is extremely talented at what she does. I always feel amazing when I’ve been to Physio, she knows exactly what I need to work on. I was told that I’d never be able to move from the neck down but with the support and knowledge from Tees Neuro Physiotherapy we have proved this to be wrong. I am always welcomed with a smile it’s a wonderful place to visit everyone there is amazing”

"Victoria and her team are amazing!! Their service isn't a 'one size fits all approach' They have a holistic approach to treatment. Understanding that no two days are the same for a patient with complex needs. They provide a service that is tailored to suit the clients needs and goals. Thinking outside the box. Nothing is too much for them and they're up for any challenge.
A hard working dedicated bunch of clinicians going above and beyond- I don't know what our family would do if we didn't have them!!!"
