TYROMOTION

Exclusively for members of Tees Neuro Physiotherapy, TNTT presents cutting edge, easy to use and accessible rehabilitation resistance training equipment from Tyromotion for individuals with neurological conditions.

Medical Therapy Training (MTT)

The Tyromotion MTT range of resistance machines are designed to strengthen major muscle groups of the human body, removing barriers from exercise with the easily adjustable pneumatic air compression system which effectively replicating physiological muscle function.

Why exercise with neurological conditions?

Resistance training helps regain strength and increase muscle mass, improve functional ability and confidence, thus making daily activities easier. Enhancing cardiovascular function and muscle strength is important in mobilising effectively and regaining independence.

Benefits of exercise and resistance training

Deficits in muscle strength is one of the primary limitations to function, scientific evidence illustrates benefits of exercise to neurological patients and endorses strength training as part of an overall rehabilitation program.

Key Benefits:

  • Improve aerobic fitness, making everyday activities less physically strenuous.
  • Reduce the risk of secondary disease and complications i.e. obesity and diabetes
  • Improve proprioception, coordination, strength, endurance and limb function
  • Reduce spasticity and stiffness
  • Improve balance, gait, mobility, and reduce falls risk
  • Increase joint range of motion, reduce muscle asymmetry/compensatory strategies
  • Improve mood, self-esteem and quality of life

Exercise Recommendations for Neurological conditions

The World Health Organisation recommends combining aerobic, strength, and flexibility exercises, alongside balance and coordination activities to increase muscle strength, improve mobility, reduce spasticity, and promote overall well‐being.

Exercise Guidelines

  • 150-300 minutes of moderate intensity aerobic exercise OR 75-150 minutes of high intensity aerobic exercise per week.
  • Strength training 2x per week, moderate to high intensity, all major muscle groups
  • 3 or more days per week of varied exercise emphasising functional balance and strength training at moderate to high intensity
